Back to school money-saving tips
It’s back-to-school time! Worried about tuition, uniform, and other school-related expenses? Lessen your burden with these few tips:
- Reuse old school uniforms. Check your child’s uniform if it needs a few stitching here and there. Whiten blouses or polos with bleach or “bluing” powder. Use shoe shine on black shoes to make them look brand new. As long as your child looks neat and tidy, wearing old uniforms or shoes should be no problem.
- Borrow old books. Ask older students if you can borrow or buy their books at a cheaper price. Is your child is extra-hardworking and driven? He may skip buying books altogether. All he needs to do is borrow his classmate’s books for advanced studying and note-taking.
- Recycle school supplies. Old notebooks may still have unused pages in them. Sew them together for your child’s homework notebook. Pencils, crayons and pens that still work need not be replaced.
Get your family involved in finding creative ways to save up this back-to-school season. Together, you can think of fun solutions to your financial woes.
