Getting ready for Christmas
Filipinos are known for having the longest Christmas celebration. Christmas caroling and decorating begin as we early as September, and the festivities last until January. So before the –ber months roll in, we might as well get ready.
- Start with a budget.
Finalize the amount you’ll need for all your Christmas expenses. Divide this amount by the number of paydays left before you do your Christmas shopping. Deposit the right amount every month to ensure that you’ve got money safely tucked away for the season.
- Make a gift list.
Jot down the names of loved ones you would like to gift. Write down what you think they might like. Then start shopping for a few items at a time. Not only will this prevent you from being caught in the Christmas rush in malls, it will also soften the impact on your wallet.
- Plan your Noche Buena.
As early as now, start compiling recipes and make a master ingredient list. Should you need canned products like tomato sauce or fruit cocktails, buy them now. They last for months, and they might be cheaper. Just check the expiration date.
Let’s prepare early for a stress free holiday!
