Cetirizine (Allerkid) Syrup is a colorless to slightly yellow-colored, clear syrup with fruity grape odor, and sweet grape taste using the TasteRite® Technology. These medicines contain cetirizine, an anti-allergy. Cetirizine blocks the action of histamine, a substance that causes allergic symptoms. Cetirizine is less likely to cause drowsiness and dizziness than the older class of anti-allergy medicines. Class Antihistamines & Antiallergics Dosage Syrup 5 mg/ 5 mL: Children 2-5 years: 5 mL (1 tsp) once daily or 2.5 mL (1/2 tsp) twice daily every 12 hrs. 6-12 years: 10 mL (2 tsp) once daily or 5 mL (1 tsp) twice daily every 12 hrs. Renal and Hepatic Impairment: Pediatric patients 6-12 years with impaired renal and hepatic function should use the lowest recommended dose.
