Class Antihistamines & Antiallergics Dosage Tablet: Adults and Children ≥12 years: 1 tab once daily. Children 6-11 years: ½ tab twice daily or 1 tab once daily. Syrup: Adults and Children ≥12 years: 10 mL (2 tsp) once daily. Children 6-11 years: 10 mL (2 tsp) once daily or 5 mL (1 tsp) twice daily; 2-5 years: 5 mL (1 tsp) once daily or 2.5 mL (½ tsp) twice daily. Drops: Children 2-5 years: 5 mg (2 mL) once daily or 2.5 mg (1 mL) twice daily; 6 months to <2 years: 2.5 mg (1 mL) once or twice daily. Maximum Dose: 5 mg/day. Pediatric patients 6-11 years with impaired renal and hepatic function should use the lowest recommended dose. Because of the lack of pharmacokinetic and safety information for cetirizine in children <6 years with impaired renal or hepatic function, use of cetirizine in these patients is not recommended. Renal and Hepatic Impairment: Syrup: 5 mL (1 tsp) once daily for adults and children ≥12 years with decreased renal function (creatinine clearance: 11-31 mL/min); on hemodialysis (creatinine clearance <7 mL/min); with hepatic impartment. A missed dose should be taken as soon as remembered then the subsequent dose taken as recommended ie, after 24 hrs (if once daily) or after 12 hrs (if twice daily). Dose should not be doubled.
